As temperatures rebound a bit through Friday, another push of arctic air will move through late this weekend and early next week.

The swing in temperatures is shown here, from the lower 40s Friday to below zero early next week. That's cold, but considering record lows for those days are -10° to -25°, it's not that cold.

No, this isn't cold like before Christmas, but it is adding to the already cold winter we have had, and month for that matter. Well, I should really say it has been a colder than average winter but not extreme. This is the first winter to date since 2017 in which temperatures have been cooler than average.

Here's an animation to show that colder air working in (follow the cold colors - blues, purples, etc.). The animation runs from Friday night through Wednesday morning.

You can see how the above normal temperatures are squeezed to the far southeastern U.S. with this latest push of cold.

Is there a lot of snow coming with it? Well, no not really. Here's the average amount of snow predicted in various modeling.

Sure, there's a swipe of snow across Wyoming, Nebraska, to Iowa and then the Great Lakes but for Colorado there isn't a lot of snow on the way for those of us east of the mountains.

Our Gamblers Charts show some odds inching into the 4 and 5 inch category but overall not a robust snow signal coming with the cold.

What to watch for in the coming days will be the ultimate duration of the cold, and if that snow band to our north wants to drop into the state. Stay tuned the best way possible by signing up for our email updates here.
