Midweek rain, cooler temps

The long advertised midweek cool down still appears on track - in fact, latest data suggests temperatures in the 70s Wednesday are in fact a good bet. A cold front will work its way across the region Tuesday night, knocking temperatures well below average for this time of year and another chance for rain.

Our best chance for storms will come overnight Tuesday and through the day Wednesday. A bit conflicted in calling this a huge rain maker for the city, but as is typical this time of year, localized heavy rain is not out of the question. Unlike this last Saturday, this should not be a big severe weather event for Denver, though some storms could produce small hail and wind.

Daytime highs are expected to stay in the mid 70s Wednesday, a good 15 degrees below average. We will moderate a bit Thursday with highs back into the 80s, but remain below average through the end of the week, and possibly through the weekend. As for rain - will continue with a chance for afternoon storms each day of the extended forecast as moisture continues to flow into the state.
