It's been snowing very nicely in the high country over the last 24 hours, and with the northwest flow in full force well into the weekend the snow isn't looking to quit any time soon. Take a look at some of these 24 hours snow totals (yes, Utah is doing quite well as well). Steamboat resort is leading the pack with more snow in the forecast through Sunday.

The winds responsible for the snow will also cause some travel headaches if you plan to head west tonight and Saturday. A High Wind Warning has been posted for the immediate foothills west of Denver where gusts in excess of 50 mph will be possible through Saturday evening.

The wind, in combination with snow on the ground and light snow showers was making travel tricky near Fairplay this afternoon where near-zero visibility brought traffic to a standstill at times. These quick whiteouts will be common place throughout the high country over the next 24 - 36 hours, so please use caution if traveling.

In Denver, gusty winds Saturday mean much warmer temperatures. We'll push 60 most places along the Front Range before cooling into the 40s Sunday, with at least a slight chance for flurries or a snow shower in town.

Long range models continue to keep the weather rather benign for the state over the extended period. Temperatures look to fluctuate between the 40s and 50s over the foreseeable future in Denver, with overnight lows in the 20s. Precipitation chances statewide look minimal next week.
