We continue in the doldrums of a weather pattern that doesn't favor snow in the
metro areas. The next chance of snow is a low one and is late Thursday through
Friday morning.

As we look at the next 10 days, there will be active weather areas that cover
the Pacific Northwest and also over the Appalachians and Ohio Valley.


As far as significance, there will be significant snow over the Western US
during the next 10 days.

Snowfall elsewhere will not be too heavy:

However, the precipitation map during that time indicates a much wetter than
normal area over the eastern US, more than 2 to 3 inches wetter than the average
over the period:

Zooming in, we see lots of locations with more than 4-inches of rain to come:


That leaves Colorado sandwiched between the two. The mountains will have some
snow for the 10 days, and the plains may catch some snow too.


There is some snow for the metro areas, but the 10-day Gamblers are not keyed on
too much:


The forecast matches what one would expect when the MJO Index swings through 4
(Wet Pacific areas) to 5 (wetter areas stretching from the southern Mississippi
to New England).
