Denver sits in its least snowy January on record, ties with 2003 and 1934, and
we remain less than optimistic about much snowfall on the horizon. There are a
couple of snow chances to chat about, so let's look at the next ten days.



This animation is the GFS for the next ten days and doesn't show much
precipitation across Colorado, or for our region for that matter. The persistent
wetness is over the Pacific Northwest, and a couple of systems impact the
Eastern US.

As far as significance, let's look at the precipitation anomalies and the total
snowfall for the US during the next ten days.

The wet signal is over the Pacific Northwest and a bit of that trend along and
west of the Mississippi for some of the Southern and Central Plains. Meanwhile,
Colorado is a mix of wetter and drier than average conditions in this
projection.


In the form of snowfall, we see some significant totals over the Pac NW, another
over/near Iowa and Missouri, and a third over/near Pensylvania and New York.


Yes, we do see some snowfall painted over Eastern Colorado and Denver in that
snowfall image based on the Euro. Let's take a closer look at what the chances
of that outcome are.

For day-to-day snow/precip chances, let's look at the Gambler Charts broken down
by day starting today (Monday).


We do see some chances into the 2 to 4-inch ranges early next week, albeit
low-end chances at the time.

It's hard to justify chances higher than what's shown in our Gambler Data, which
is supported in the teleconnections and MJO forecast.

Teleconnections don't support a healthy storm flow for Colorado with their +
phases.


And, the MJO is to weaken as passing through Phase 7, which is a warm and mostly
dry pattern for Eastern Colorado with some snow for Central and Western
Colorado.
