Another round of snow showers possible on Thursday before a warm weekend

A very quick update this evening to first say "hooray!" as a nice round of snow showers have moved across the urban corridor this evening, bringing the first flakes of the year to some locales –– and some enormous ones at that!

As of 8:15 the heaviest showers have pushed into Southeast Denver, and will continue to track southeast over the next hour or two before dissipating for the night:

Another wave moves through on Thursday and with it perhaps a few more snow showers as well. The European model has been most bullish, but frankly it seems overdone. Still, it shows the potential for a quick inch in spots should some heavier showers develop. Probabilities will remain low for Denver for now, but should things look a bit more interesting it could be these get bumped up a bit. Note the blip tomorrow evening (and the warmth on the way for Saturday!):

This evening's NAM model is less excited, and I'm a bit more inclined to get in its boat. It's got 0 to a coating for the Denver area and western suburbs, with perhaps a Trace to 2" for the Palmer Divide between Denver and Boulder. Again, some models have a bit more in spots, others less. Overall a similar setup to yesterday and today –– quick hitting snow showers that can deliver some quick accumulation to spots, but generally a non-event expected:

We are still on track for a very warm weekend!

And likely a much colder start to the first week of February:

Enjoy the flakes, get ready for the weekend, and stay tuned!
