June has had a hot start and the near record, and record, temperatures won't
cool until next week following a windy weekend.

Highs since late May have been quite hot, as we discussed in this week's SOTA
[https://www.weather5280.com/blog/2020/06/01/the-state-of-the-atmosphere-monday-june-1-2020/]
, with several records set during this warm pattern.

Through Wednesday, two-dozen record highs are set across Colorado (of stations
with at least 30 years of record keeping).

The hottest of which was Yuma's 100-degree high Tuesday. 

Loveland 2N set records Monday (93 degrees) and Tuesday (89 degrees).

Boulder set a record high of 89 Monday. Fort Collins also set a record Monday
with 92 degrees.

Temperatures will continue to stay well above the averages and close to records
for the next few days.

You may have noted in those two images that next week does cool considerably. A
cold front will move through early next week to bring in that change.

Prior to that front will be wind.

A hot and windy weekend is on tap. This will make for very high fire danger at
times. Red Flag Warnings will likely be issued for many areas, so please...NO
OUTDOOR BURNING OF ANY KIND.

However, a cold front swings through Monday to bring in some seasonal
temperatures.

The cold front is pushed through by a bit of a trough that impacts the Western
US.

That trough does not last long and a strong ridge likely takes over the region
shortly after. The teleconnections don't support a 'troughy' pattern for us,
just look at the PNA Index's reluctance to swing negative for any length of
time.

A return of a dominant ridge will mean the temperatures will stay well warmer
than average for much of June. This fits the drought outlooks
