Heavy Snow, Record Heat, and High Winds Make for Wild Thursday in Colorado
It was one of those classic Colorado days on Thursday where winter and summer were separated by just a few hundred miles. As record high temperatures were set all across the eastern Plains, heavy mountain snow and strong winds produced hazardous winter travel conditions in the mountains. Chinook Winds Eating the Snow Away
Chinook winds are just another incredible weather phenomenon many of us are familiar with living along the Front Range. Monday’s event was one of the more remarkable ones you’ll see as “snow-eating” winds kicked in and took our temperatures for a ride. Our low temperature for January 5th came between 3 and 4am when Denver International Airport bottomed out at -5 degrees F.
