Lubbock, Texas Dust Storm
A cold front brought 70 mph winds and an 8,000 foot wall of dust to Lubbock, Texas shortly after 5:30pm Monday. Locals compared it to images of the Dust Bowl during the 1930s. Differing from the Arizona haboobs (usually caused by convection), the Lubbock haboob was caused by a cold front and was amplified by barren fields as a result of the ongoing drought.
