Talkin' Weekend
The big weekend for graduates and moms is almost here; weather obviously plays a huge roll in those activities. While we likely won't see more record heat this weekend (Denver hit 90 today which was the 4th earliest 90 on record for Denver), we won't see a chilly washout either. We updated the Insiders a couple of days ago on how weak the system had looked at that time and it will likely favor northern areas of the state. This thin

Mother's Day Snow? A Look at the Analogs and Latest Forecast
If you missed last night's update , you may want to take a quick look now as we won't revisit everything, but did want to get an update out tonight and talk a little about what the analogs are showing. There remain some differences in track, speed, and eventually temperatures, but overall each individual model has been pretty solid run-t

Sunday Afternoon Update: Mother's Day Snow Barrels into Colorado
Overall forecast remains on track. Weve changed from rain to snow in nearly all locations along the Front Range urban corridor. Temperatures will fluctuate little throughout the rest of the day, maybe raising a degree or two with such a high sun angle, but will stay at or near freezing for most locations. Precipitation is expected to transition to all snow for lower elevations, and stay so through Sunday night. We are still expecting 4 to 9 inches of snow in Denver through Sunday night, with lo

Update on Late Season Winter Storm Headed for Colorado
We believe that our overall forecast still on track: a major late winter storm is set to impact much of Colorado starting Saturday night and continuing into Monday. Highest impacts from this event are expected to come in the form of downed trees and power lines where heavy snow does accumulate. Travel will be difficult at times Sunday and Sunday night, especially heading west where snowfall totals in excess of 10 inches will be likely. For Denver, the snowfall forecast remains uncertain. We are

Update: Potential for Significant Mother's Day Storm
Early this morning the National Weather Service in Boulder issued a Winter Storm Watch for what could be a significant late season storm for the Front Range mountains and urban corridor. Snowfall is looking increasingly likely Sunday, and given the time of year it is, any snowfall accumulation could prove very destructive to leafed trees. Confidence in snowfall accumulation is much greater above 7,000 feet, but all models have accumulating snow in Denver with this storm. Given the rain vs snow

Mother's Day Storm Could Bring Snow to Denver
With the severe weather behind us, does winter have one last blast? As we've mentioned several times this week, another system is headed for Colorado over the weekend, and this one could be colder and wetter for a good portion of the state. That's right, colder -- which means we'll be watching for the chance of snow, even some at lower elevations. Models have had a hard time with this system, but have come into better agreement over the last 24 hours or so. The EURO and Canadian models have bot
