Thursday PM update: Extensive damage across southern Denver metro area from likely tornado, wind, and hail

Parts of the metro area are cleaning up this evening after a powerful thunderstorm moved through Thursday afternoon. Strong winds, large hail, and a probable tornado has produced extensive damager across the area with images pouring in of downed trees in and around Highlands Ranch.

A reminder a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect through the evening for much of Northeast Colorado, you can read more about today's setup and what to expect in our update from earlier today as well:

The storm that moved through Littleton, Highlands Ranch, and Parker continues to push east and southeast this evening. While there are no active tornado warnings in place, it continues to produce damaging wind and hail and needs to be monitored. If you are in its path, seek shelter.

The National Weather Service will be surveying today's damage tomorrow and will offer and official confirmation of the reported tornado and how strong it was estimated to be.
