The cold front hit with a vengeance and no way did we overlook its arrival, wind and a temperature drop rarely recorded before. Denver tied its 3rd largest temperature swing in a single day with a high of 51° and a low of -10°.

Other locations with dramatic drops:

And our station in Castle Rock:

Temperatures eventually threatened record lows overnight, DIA dropped to -24° which is one degree shy of a December monthly record and date record set in 1990.

Other lows from the region Thursday morning are shown here, along with 7 am wind chills.

Decent snow fell across the area, too. Light and fluffy, but several inches for many spots.

Okay, now onto the next few hours as we will be downright cold again overnight, this time with a mostly clear sky.

And still freezing for most Friday afternoon but warmth begins to move into the state from the southwest.

The warmer pocket will spread across the state in the next few days. Denver warms quite quickly through the weekend, and beyond.

Since you are so cold now, I'll leave you with warm thoughts. This is the forecast high map for Tuesday.
