Colorado Weather: Make Plans Around Surge Of Wetter Weather

Rainier days are upon us and will last through the weekend, with the wettest potential sitting squarely on Saturday and Sunday.

This continues the wetter pattern established in the past several weeks; I still haven't turned on the sprinkler system, there's absolutely been no need for my area- hard to believe, but I will need a moment of rain to hit the next few days to keep the irrigation off.

Temperatures will also be cooling throughout the period. Let's see how this gets rolling with the 3-day hourly planner for Denver.

That planner is not much for pool-day weather, is it?! You'll need to make some rain and thunderstorm considerations when planning out the next several days.

The majority of these showers and storms will produce light to moderate rain with lighter wind gusts and perhaps small hail. There will be a minority of storms that will be stronger with heavier rain, hail, and stronger wind gusts. Given the multiple-day chances and potential for some stronger storms, isolated flooding is possible. The risk of flooding, as of this post, is higher elsewhere and the following map shows the areas around the region where the risk is considerable.

This isn't going to be a non-stop kind of event, it's scattered showers and storms so you'll have time to get outside and enjoy. Do consider taking an umbrella with you, though. Here's an animation to show what I mean by scattered. This is the forecast for shower activity through midday Sunday:

Keep us posted on your rainfall, and sorry if your pool or hike plans are far less exciting now. We'll take credit if you enjoy the rain, complaints can go to 9News or those Lisa Hidalgo and Lauren Whitney peeps.
