The chance for thunderstorms continues, along with a similar risk of tornadoes, but the hail threat does increase for today's storms.

These threats are shifting south in the latest guidance, and may need to be adjusted farther south than what we have this morning - today's temperatures are very cool for Northern Colorado; the warmer environment well to the south of Denver will have the higher chances for severe storms.

Let's take a look at where these elements are most likely, starting with today's thunderstorm outlook in general.

And, now the threat for tornadoes.

And, now to the hail threat areas:

Again, those risk areas may need to be moved south based on the conditions we are observing this morning.

Speaking of the coolness, here's an hourly planner for today through Friday showing the temperatures along with the rain chances.

Despite some grumbling from some folks about the lack of severe weather Tuesday, there actually was quite a bit of it across the region, including a potent cell that moved through the Denver metro area Tuesday evening. Here's a look at the Warnings issued yesterday by the NWS:

The cell over Denver produced spectacular wind and rain as well as a bit of hail Here's a look from the Rapids game as it blew through.

Central Denver and the northern suburbs saw anywhere from 1 to 1.5" of rain Tuesday thanks in large part to this wallop of a storm, including 0.77" at Denver International Airport.

Additionally, yesterday's rain at DIA means that if not a single drop of rain or single snowflake falls again in Denver this year, Denver will still have a wetter-than-average year. As of July 5th, 15.2" has fallen year-to-date at DIA; 14.48" is the annual normal. Incredible!

The same goes for Colorado Springs. The city surpasses its annual total by June 21st. 17.41" so far in 2023. 15.91" is the annual average.
