Nothing of huge import to update you on today – I mean, it's a bit windy for sure, but generally impacts will remain relatively low. Below are 12:00pm wind gusts across the state.

Winner winner chicken dinner at DIA with a state-high 47 mph gust!

We're seeing a collection of 20, 30 and 40 mph gusts from Colorado Springs out on the southeast plains, with mostly 20 and 30 mph gusts in the mountains.

These downsloping winds are giving us really mild stuff too, plenty of 50s and 60s along I-25. Check ou the cold front hanging out over NE Colorado though. Those 30s and 40s are slowly but surely getting mixed out. And an impressive temperature gradient between La Junta and Lamar – 31 degrees between those two cities which are about 60 miles apart.

Less about wind, and more about a persistent breeze on Thursday. I think we probably see the wind pick up again on Friday as a cold front approaches. This front will also kick up some snow in the higher terrain.

The cold front really never digs far enough south to cause major issues for the front range, but it should be enough to cool us down into the 30s and 40s this weekend.

Here's a quick pass on snowfall potential... mountain travel probably going to be tough, especially north of I-70 Friday night.  If you're planning on going up to Steamboat, Winter Park, Eldora or other resorts, be prepared to take it slow if you go up Friday night... but powder should be real nice Saturday.

After this weekend, the weather is a bit uncertain in terms of a potential for arctic air. For now, it seems like we'll get cold... but nothing brutal. Can be way worse this time of year. To be fair, 20s and 30s for highs is a far stretch from the break we've had this week.

Any who, that's our little update for ya, hopefully the wind isn't too stupid today. We'll let you know if there's any updates about the cold front passing by this weekend.
