In Brief: Expect showers and a few storms for Memorial Day in Denver, hail possible, with gradual warming and daily storm chances through the week. Here's what to expect day by day.

In Detail: Memorial Day is shaping up to be cool and damp across the Denver metro area and much of the Front Range. After some early patchy fog, expect showers to become more widespread by midday, with a few thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and evening. Highs will only reach the mid-60s, making it a cooler-than-normal holiday. If you’re planning outdoor activities, aim for the morning or early lunch hours before the rain picks up.

Showers will taper off by late evening, though a few showers could linger through midnight. Patchy fog may redevelop overnight, with lows dropping into the mid-40s.

Tuesday brings a bit of a break from the rain, especially early in the day. Some sunshine and warmer temperatures are expected, with highs near the mid-70s. That said, scattered afternoon storms could return, mainly after lunchtime and into the evening—so don’t put away the umbrella just yet.

This midweek pattern continues through Wednesday and Thursday, with daily afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely. Wednesday stays cooler, with highs around 70, while Thursday will be a bit warmer. By Friday, temperatures could reach the low 80s, but afternoon storms are still in the mix.

While severe weather isn’t expected to be widespread Memorial Day, a few stronger storms with hail around an inch are possible, especially along the Palmer Divide and eastern plains.

There will be additional chances for severe weather as the week goes on, we will let you know if any risk day appears to be notably higher.

Stay weather-aware this week, especially during afternoon and evening plans!
