In brief: Storm chances Friday afternoon for northeast Colorado, especially east of Denver. The weekend turns hot and mostly dry, with highs in the 90s across the Denver metro.

In detail: We’re heading into a hot and mostly dry stretch of weather, but first, we’ll need to watch for a few thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.

Friday:
After lunch, scattered clouds will increase across the Denver area. While most of the metro will stay dry, a few gusty showers or storms could develop during the mid to late afternoon. The best chance for stronger storms—capable of producing hail and damaging wind—will be east of Denver, especially after 4 PM in areas like Greeley, Fort Morgan, and Limon. Expect things to quiet down by 10 PM.

Friday night:
Clouds will clear out overnight, with comfortable lows near 60.

Saturday:
A sunny and hot day ahead. Morning plans will be dry and calm, and highs will push into the low 90s by early afternoon. Winds may pick up a bit after lunch but nothing too strong. A great day for outdoor activities with very low storm threat in the Denver area.

Saturday night:
Clear skies continue, and temperatures cool into the low 60s overnight.

Sunday:
Similar to Saturday—plenty of sun and very warm, with highs again in the low to mid 90s. A light breeze will kick up by mid-afternoon. Storms may form again over far northeast Colorado late in the day, but the Denver area likely stays dry unless some rogue storm defies us...

Mountain Forecast:
It’ll be a hot and dry weekend in the mountains, with temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Afternoon breezes will increase Saturday and Sunday, especially north of I-70, raising fire danger across the high country. While no Red Flag Warnings are posted yet, conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread in dry areas. Expect warm, windy afternoons and cool, clear nights through early next week.

Looking ahead:
Monday stays hot and dry. By Tuesday and Wednesday, a weak system may bring a few storms back to the forecast and drop temperatures into the 80s, offering a brief break from the heat.
