California Update, October 28, 2016

During the course of the past week, we have scored some modest gains in terms of the drought for the northern areas. A look at the seven day precipitation totals show a sharp divide between northern and central California:

Observed Precipitation the Past Week

Sadly, the rest of the state continues a dire need of precipitation. Here is this week's latest drought report.

USDA Drought Monitor

Going through the next 14 days, or so, we are looking at an overall trend of warmer than average temperatures. The warmer than average days will edge out the cooler than average, but the good news (glass is half full here) is that the are pretty good chances for precipitation across central and northern sections of the state, particularly the next few days.

The precipitation forecast accumulating through Sunday November 6th clearly favors northern and central areas of the state. It's nice to see more of central California getting in the mix. Some areas could come away with a few inches of new moisture.
